Almix Powder, Granule and Briquettes
Aluminium is very well known for its use as a deoxidizing agent and slag reducing flux for Steel manufacturing.
It promotes fast formation of slag because of its strong reducing effect on the oxidized metal. Thereby, reducing the total treatment time of the process. It minimizes the necessity of using Fluoride based chemicals, ultimately limiting the production of harmful gases like Fluorine which contributes towards environmental pollution.
Ideally, the flux should be injected into the stream of molten steel at high pressure to allow it to mix thoroughly and thus facilitating the formation of slag. The process leaves minimum amount of Chrome oxide and other metal oxides in the melt. The flux is suitable for use in both AOD furnace pot and Induction furnace pot because it does not affect the lining material.
Almix is used over aluminium metal because of the cost advantage it provides.
